Liyangasthota Dam

There was an English colonial era in Sri Lanka. This dam was constructed by English in
1889. The Walawe river is crossed by this dam. The English governors wanted to develop
the agriculture in this area . But, lack of rain was the main problem for that. They constructed
this dam by crossing Walwe river and created an irrigation system to provide water for
agriculture. Our people get the benefits from this even today.
